The Conference Committee proudly presents the 2012 Conference Program.

The conference is less than a week away, so take some time to browse through the program and try to make a plan for next Tuesday and Wednesday. So many choices!

Now Seeking Award Nominations

The New Hampshire School Library Media Association is pleased to announce that we are now accepting nominations for the 2012 awards and for the annual scholarship. In order to promote our profession and the wonderful work that you do, we are publicizing the nomination process with letters to administrators and with postings on several statewide listservs. We would also like to encourage our membership to take an active role in the nomination process this year.

On January 23rd, a letter was mailed to your school administration requesting nominations for the annual NHSLMA Outstanding Library Media Specialist, Paraprofessional, Intellectual Freedom, and Partnership Awards.

In conjunction with administration nominations, we are encouraging our membership to submit award nominations and scholarship applications. Please consider nominating a colleague for the Outstanding Library Media Specialist, Paraprofessional, or Intellectual Freedom Award. In an effort to celebrate and foster the collaborative efforts that many of you undertake, we are asking our membership to consider self-nominations for the Partnership Award.

In an effort to advance our profession, NHSLMA awards annual scholarship/s for those seeking financial assistance for graduate work, undergraduate work, or continuing education. The criteria for application is listed on the scholarship form found at http://nhslma.org/about-2/awards/.

Regional Forums

The first of the nine regional forums is this Thursday 2/9 from 3:30-5:00pm at Bedford HS in Bedford, NH. Although these are intended to be meetings where you can discuss issues relevant to your region, we plan to begin with an open dialogue about the Common Core (scheduled to come to your school no later than September 2013!) and the opportunities/challenges they may present to library media specialists who are seeking to make our libraries essential to our schools. We may also look at the new NH State Certification standards and have a dialogue about what the means for you and your library program.

The other eight forums will be held from 3:30-5:00 pm on the following dates at these locations:

February 14: Atkinson Academy, Atkinson, NH

February 22: Campbell High School, Litchfield, NH

March 12: Keene High School, Keene, NH

March 13: Horne St. Elementary School, Dover, NH

March 20: Rundlett Middle School, Concord, NH

March 28: Kingswood Regional High School, Wolfeboro, NH

April 10: New London Elementary School, New London, NH

April 13: Profile High School, Bethlehem, NH
