NHSLMA annually offers scholarships and awards. They are presented by the Scholarship and Awards Committee at the spring (May) conference. All nominations must be received by December 15.

Awards
NHSLMA Outstanding Library Media Specialist Award
The Outstanding Library Media Specialist Award is given for a library media program and services. Nominations are accepted from superintendents, principals, teachers, library media staff or community members, but not from the nominee her/himself. The NHSLMA member must be certified by the State of New Hampshire as a Library Media Specialist. Guidelines:
- The nominee needs to have advocated for students and teachers to be lifelong learners and demonstrated a commitment to on-going self-education to keep abreast of current trends and technologies.
- The nomination will be judged on the role the library media professional has played in developing and supporting a library program and services.
- Applications must include
- Rationale and details supporting the nominee
- The name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination
The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHSLMA. Nominations are due by December 15th.
NHSLMA Paraprofessional Award
The Paraprofessional Award is given to recognize the contribution of library support staff who are involved in library operations at all levels. Their duties may include routine to very specialized expertise in the field. Nominations are accepted from superintendents, principals, teachers, library media staff or community members, but not from the nominee her/himself. Guidelines:
- The nomination will be judged on the role the library media professional has played in developing and supporting a library program and services within the school.
- The nominee must be a member of NHSLMA.
- Applications must include a short statement with examples of the nominee’s contributions and the name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination.
The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHSLMA. Nominations are due by December 15th.
NHSLMA Partnership Award
The NHSLMA Partnership Award has been established to recognize a NHSLMA member and a teacher, administrator, other library professional, parent or volunteer whose cooperative efforts have enhanced a library program. The NHSLMA member must be certified by the State of New Hampshire as a Library Media Specialist. This award may be self-nominated.
- A written statement identifying specific reasons for the nomination
- The partnership should advance 21st Century Literacy Skills
- The name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination.
The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHSLMA. Nominations are due by December 15th.
NHSLMA Intellectual Freedom Award
The NHSLMA Intellectual Freedom Award is given for an individual or group that has championed the cause of intellectual freedom in a tangible way in an educational setting.
- Nominees will be judged on the role they have played in actively promoting intellectual freedom in their sphere of influence and beyond, the degree to which the nominee exemplifies the spirit of intellectual freedom and the impact made by their efforts to promote intellectual freedom.
- If the nominee is an educational media professional, s/he must be a member of NHSLMA
- A statement detailing the reasons for the nomination
- The name and phone number of an additional reference who can substantiate the nomination
The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHSLMA. Nominations are due by December 15th.
NHSLMA Service Award
The NHSLMA Service Award is presented to a NHSLMA member who has served the profession and the organization in an exemplary and unselfish manner.
- Membership in NHSLMA
- Member of the school library community in New Hampshire
- Significant statewide impact on the library/media profession through service to NHSLMA members
The winner will receive a free one-year membership in NHSLMA. The winner is selected by the NHSLMA Board.
